Super regional and enclosed malls are failing across the country.  Of Chicago’s  28 major malls, fewer than 10 are profitable. The B and C malls are also suffering.  And NOW this year, we will see the closing of many grocery anchored malls and the disbursement of tenants…and this is just the beginning.

What do we do?  How is a city or village impacted when they lose the income from real estate taxes and sales?  Are the malls recoverable and how?  How does this trend impact the entire real estate industry? We will be discussing these and other topics related to the fate of Chicago’s malls.

Facilitator:   Keith Lord, President, The Lord Companies, LLC

Speakers:    Michele Dodd, Director of Real Estate, Roti Mediterranean Grill
Michele is one of the nation’s foremost retail tenant RE directors.
                     John Melaniphy,
President, Melaniphy & Associates Inc.
John is one of the best prognosticators of mall trends.

THIS will not be a typical panel, but instead an open controversial discussion on the future of malls and retail.
