Join REIA for a Cook County Assessor’s Democratic Party Candidate Debate featuring Cook County Assessor Fritz Kaegi and Lyons Township Assessor Pat Hynes, moderated by Mary Ann Ahern, political reporter for NBC 5 Chicago. Attendees will have the opportunity to listen to the candidate's views on property assessment issues impacting owners and investors, along with an in-depth discussion on assessment policy, transparency, and future practices. Attendance limited to 200 guests.

Fritz Kaegi has served as Cook County Assessor since 2018. During his tenure, Kaegi has focused on modernizing the assessor’s office, expanding public access to data, and implementing changes aimed at improving transparency and equity in the property assessment process.

Pat Hynes has served as Lyons Township Assessor since 2021. During his tenure, Hynes has overseen local assessment administration and valuation practices, with an emphasis on operational management and taxpayer engagement. Prior to his current role, he spent two decades at the Cook County Assessor’s Office, where he gained extensive experience in countywide assessment operations.

The debate will be moderated by Mary Ann Ahern, veteran political reporter for NBC 5 Chicago. Ahern has covered Chicago and Illinois government for more than three decades and is widely recognized for her reporting on elections, public policy, and governmental accountability. She has also moderated numerous high-profile candidate debates and public forums throughout the region.
